Kashmir: Security forces are engaged in a fierce gunbattle with two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in a residential area of Pattan in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.
The area where the encounter is taking place has been cordoned off. The gunfight started around 0830 hrs IST on Wednesday morning.
The gunbattle is the 10th major encounter in the state in 2010.
The two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists are holed up in a residential area in Pattan.
Meanwhile, in another incident Border Security Force personnel shot at an intruder injuring him.
The man was attempting to cross over to the Indian side after cutting barbed fencing on the Pakistan border.
When challenged by a BSF jawan, the man threw a stone at him. Thinking that it was a hand grenade, the jawan fired at him, injuring him.
The incident took place close to Jallalabad border check post in Punjab's Ferozepur district on Monday.
"This man was trying to cross the border fencing at around 7.40 pm last evening. One of our personnel challenged him, then he pelted a stone at our official. The official thought that it was a hand grenade and shot at him in which he was injured," said BSF Deputy Inspector General Vimal Satyarthi.
