Ahmedabad: Gujarat IPS association on Saturday passed a resolution supporting IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt who has been put behind bars after his subordinate officer filed a complaint against him.
A meeting of the IPS association of the state was held on Saturday in which a resolution in support of Bhatt was passed, sources in the association said.
The bail plea of Bhatt who had spoken against Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in a affidavit in the Supreme Court accusing him of complicity in 2002 riots will be heard on Monday.
Three IPS officers including Atul Karwal and VM Parghi went to the residence of Bhatt to convey the resolution passed by the association to his family members.
"Three IPS officers came to our house and told us that the association will totally back Bhatt in his fight for truth," Shweta, wife of Bhatt told.
The IPS officers association also passed another resolution saying that a permanent DGP needs to be appointed in place of in-charge DGP in the state.
"The association has passed a resolution for filling up the post of DGP instead of having in-charge DGP," sources said.
Chitranjan Singh is in-charge DGP of the state at present.
The association also appointed Deepak Swaroop as the new president.
