New Delhi: The Home Ministry has asked Naxal-affected states to tighten security and take all precautionary measures to check violence in view of a bandh called by Maoists on Thursday.

In an advisory to these states, the ministry suggested them to deploy adequate security forces in sensitive locations to avoid violence expected to be perpetrated by Naxals during the bandh which was called to protest the killing of 19 people during a gunfight in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur.

The states were also asked to put special vigil along railway tracks, roads, bridges and industrial installations which are primary targets of the extremists.

Sources said intelligence inputs have suggested that the Naxals may try to carry out attacks on security forces during the bandh as a retaliation to the killing of their colleagues.
