PUDUCHERRY: Slamming the AINRC government, CPM Puducherry unit secretary V Perumal, on Tuesday, said the performance of the government was not up to the expectations of the people.Addressing a press conference here, he said the government had failed to implement the schemes it announced during the polls and pointed out that the free rice scheme was not implemented properly and the rice distributed was below quality.The government had imposed an electricity surcharge and also hiked the bus fares when common man was already reeling under the price hike in essential commodities.He said the government was yet to take any steps to appoint a SECC for the civic polls despite the fact that the Madras High Court had directed the administration to conduct civic polls within six months and already three months had passed.CPM To Approach Apex Court Against LGT Murugan, party’s Tamil Nadu council member, who was also present at the press meet said CPM would approach the Supreme Court against the continuance of Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh, who, he alleged, had abused his position to get gains for himself, his family, close friends and relatives. He said his party MPs would raise the issue in the parliament also.‘Mahe Lacking Development’CPM’s Mahe region representatives - P P Ramakrishnan, Jayabalu and V Janardhanan - who were present at the press meet, said the Mahe region lacked development and the ruling governments had not done anything to improve the living conditions of the people there.“Mahe lacks even amenities in many important fields. There are shortage of staffs in these fields, they said.
