A Mumbai-bound GoAir flight with about 100 passengers, including former Army Chief General VK Singh, on board was forced to return to the airport in New Delhi following a fire alarm on Saturday.
The Airbus A-320 returned under emergency conditions to IGI airport in New Delhi after it had been airborne for about 40 minutes.
Upon landing back at the airport, the passengers were shifted to another aircraft which flew them to Mumbai.
The former Army chief was on his way to the Maharashtra state capital to launch his book at the ongoing Mumbai Literary Festival.
