Rose was released after pleading guilty to a misdemeanour of violent conduct and criminal damage.

Stockholm: Axl Rose, lead singer of rock band Guns n' Roses, was released by police late on Tuesday after having been arrested in the Swedish capital for violent conduct and damaging a hotel room earlier in the day.

Rose was released after pleading guilty to a misdemeanour of violent conduct and criminal damage and agreeing to pay a fine of 40,000 crowns ($5,460) and 10,000 crowns in compensation to a security guard, a police spokeswoman said.

The Guns n' Roses frontman, whose hits include Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City, was arrested early on Tuesday suspected of attacking a security guard and threatening a policeman.

He also caused minor damage to the interior of the hotel, the police said.

Rose, who played a concert in Stockholm on Monday night, was "too drunk to talk" when he was detained and was held in a cell until sober enough for questioning, police said.

"The matter is now concluded," police spokeswoman Towe Hagg said.
