New Delhi: The 16-year-old girl from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, who had set herself on fire on Wednesday, succumbed to her burn injuries in Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi on Sunday. According to the Moradabad police, the Class 9 student was molested on Monday and the culprit was arrested on Tuesday after an FIR was lodged in the Civil Lines area of the city.
"However, a local Hindi daily carried a news item about the incident. The girl, who was apparently upset over it, set herself ablaze," Inspector of Civil Lines police station Satish Kumar had said on Wednesday.
With 90 per cent burn injuries, the girl was admitted to a government hospital in Moradabad on Wednesday but was later referred to Safdargunj hospital in New Delhi.
