Barcelona: Chinese handset maker Gionee is aiming to be one of the top seven players in India by the end of this year.
"We have been receiving very good response for our smartphone range. The E Life series is very popular with camera savvy people. We are aiming to be amongst top seven players by value by the end of 2014," Gionee India Head Arvind R Vohra told PTI.
In the 12 months of its operations in the country, he said, the company has done business worth around Rs 500 crore.
"On a monthly basis, we are currently doing sales of over Rs 100 crore and aim to double that by the end of this year," Vohra said.
The company has recently launched what it claims to be the world's slimmest phone.
"The E Life S5.5 is crafted with a distinct metallic frame and Corning Gorillas Glass Uni-Body. It uses the world s thinnest AMOLED screen, thinnest PCB board with a 0.6MM and 0.4mm glass rear cover," Gionee President William Lu said.
The phone has a 5-inch HD screen, octa-core 1.7 GHz processor and 13-megapixel rear camera.
"Gionee E Life S series will focus primarily on design and style moving forward from its predecessor E Life E series that focussed on camera and build quality," Vohra added.
Gionee decided to launch its brand in India in the first quarter of 2013. It used to be an original device manufacturer (ODM) for many Indian brands earlier.
