Ghosal gave a tough fight to the Malaysian but failed to garner points at crucial junctures.

Guangzhou: India's ace racqueter Saurav Ghosal on Saturday settled for a bronze medal after losing his semifinal clash to top-seed Mohammad Azlan Iskandar of Malaysia in the men's singles squash event at the Asian Games.

World ranked 25 Ghosal waged a grim battle against an opponent ranked ten places higher than him in the world chart to eventually lose 5-11, 11-6, 5-11, 10-12 at the Town Gymnasium.

The 2006 Doha Asian Games bronze medallist Ghosal gave a tough fight to the Malaysian but failed to garner points at crucial junctures.

On Friday, he had defeated countrymate Siddharth Suchde, world ranked 73rd, 3-0 in the quarterfinal to book his berth into the last-four stage.

India could not win a medal in the women's singles event as Chennai girls Dipika Pallikal and Joshna Chinappa fought their hearts out but eventually ran out of steam against top-ranked Malaysian rivals to bow out of the individual competition on Friday.
