After Metro, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is all set to play an important role in the development of high-speed rail project between Delhi and Pallavpuram in Meerut.
The authority is in the process of making a report on the project, and has expressed its willingness to make available land for the purpose, an official statement said.
The Uttar Pradesh government has sent a proposal in this regard to National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) which is in charge of the project, the statement said.
Initially, the line for the high-speed train was planned along NH-58, But, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) refused to give NOC following which the state government asked GDA and Meerut Development Authority (MDA) to find an alternative route.
The MDA has already sent a report to the government with a new route, according to the statement.
