BRAJRAJNAGAR: Panic gripped Rungta area here after ammonia gas leak, from an ice-cream factory on Tuesday, left around 20 persons ill. They complained of nausea and irritation in throat and eyes.They were rushed to Central Hospital at Mandalia and one among them has been shifted to VSS Medical after her condition deteriorated.Reports said that at around 11 am, people in the colony which houses the ice-cream factory complained of uneasiness. It was later found that ammonia gas was leaking from the factory, owned by one Natwar Rungta.Receiving information, police rushed in with rescue teams from MCL, OPGC and Vedanta Aluminium Limited, who closed the valve from where the gas was leaking.The Inspector of Factories and Boilers, Chittaranjan Beura said that the factory was operating without a valid licence and the police have registered a case. The owner of the factory is reportedly absconding.
