Ahmedabad: A local court on Wednesday postponed for the second time framing of charges against self-styled godman Asaram in a rape case as he could not be produced by the Joghpur jail authorities.
The case before the additional district judge RA Ghoghari relates to complaint of rape filed by a Surat-based woman against Asaram, who is also facing a rape case in Jodhpur, and lodged in prison there.
The court deferred the proceedings to June 27 after Jodhpur prison authorities produced an order passed by the court there that Asaram shall not be taken to Gandhinagar until the trial in Jodhpur is over.
Asaram was arrested and lodged in Jodhpur prison after a minor girl accused him of rape.
The woman filed a rape complaint against him in October 2013. The chargesheet was filed against Asaram and six others before the Gandhinagar court in January last year.
The complainant's younger sister has accused Asaram's son Narayan Sai of rape. Sai is in Surat jail.
The framing of charges had been postponed on the last ccasion too as Asaram was not produced before the court in Ahmedabad.
