Coimbatore: Four persons have been taken for interrogation in connection with the murder of three persons by an armed gang at Chintamani Pudur on Wednesday night.
Three persons were hacked to death by sickles and other lethal weapons, after waylaying them in a car around 8.30 PM on Wednesday.
One of the gang members had also fired a gun shot at the driver, who has come to pick the deceased, who have come out on bail from the Central jail here, while he was trying to escape in the melee, police said.
The driver, Ravi, with bullet injuries near the chest, is recovering after a surgery in a private hospital, they said.
Meanwhile, police managed to intercept a car in the early hours in Palladam in nearby Tirupur district and taken four inmates for interrogation.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the incident was an internal fight in a political party and a case of retaliation for the murder of a lawyer, Raja in Thiruvidamaruthur in Thanjavur in April last.
The four, hailing from Thiruvidamaruthur, were handed over to rural police, for further interrogation, they said.
