BANGALORE: Helping the youth understand the lifestyle of a monk, Sri Vardhaman Sthanakvasi Jain Shravak Sangh, Hanumanthanagar, is conducting 'Bhikshu Daya' at its premises on August 21, from 8 am to 8 pm.Around 1,000 Jain businessmen, students and professionals in white attire would leave aside their mobile phones and other electronic devices and roam around Hanumanthanagar to collect food from Jain households, which will be consumed as part of the rituals.Speaking to media, H Ghewarchand Jain, president of the organisation said, "July to October are considered holy months for the Jain community. Being a monk is not easy but it's one of the ways to reach the almighty. It offers one peace, sanity and of course, good health." He added, "For a day, the Jain youths from the city are going to perform their duties as a Jain saint so that practical experience will motivate to adopt a better quality of life and live simple. " Meanwhile, around 1,000 Jain monks in the age group of 7-60 years will spend the entire day listening to discourses and prayers.They will be giving up their dinner and survive only on water
