Filmy Fiscal: Just a few laughs at the BO
After the disastrous RGV Kii Aag, Verma's back with Darling.

Mumbai: Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma used to media for one full year to publicise his film Aag but the result was a deserted ticket window.

This story should go down in history because if your product is bad, media hype won’t help.

The latest from his Factory is Darling, which business-wise is just a few points above RGV Kii Aag.

So why did Darling open at 30 per cent? Releasing a film just one week after losing credibility and being humiliated by critics and cine goers was a bad idea!

Meanwhile, Indra Kumar’s comedy film Dhamaal gave everyone a reason to smile, opening at 50 per cent.

Now why did it do better than Darling? We guess people went to watch this film with zero expectations and got much more in return.

Now let’s see what some well-known critics rated Darling and Dhamaal:

Darling

CNN-IBN: 2 / 5

HT: 1 / 5

Sunday Mid Day: 2 / 5

Asian Age: 2 / 5

Dhamaal

CNN-IBN: 3 / 5

Sunday Mid Day: 3 / 5

Asian Age: 3 / 5

HT: 2.5 / 5

So what does the Film-o-meter say? Both, Ram Gopal Verma Kii Aag is a flop and Pooja Bhatt’s Dhoka are flops.

What's your reaction?
