Fathers and sons in State Assembly

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Anoop Jacob takes the number of ‘sons’ in the current Assembly, who have followed their fathers to the House, to a dozen. Education Minister Abdu Rabb, 63, is the seniormost member in the list, and he represents the constituency, Tirurangadi, which sent his father Avukkadar Kutty Naha, former Deputy Chief Minister to the Assembly eight times in a row.Hibi Eden 28, the son of George Eden, is the youngest of these MLAs. Sons of three veterans in the Cabinet, Oommen Chandy, K M Mani and Aryadan Mohammad are energetically following their fathers’ footsteps. Jose K Mani represents Kottayam Parliament constituency and Aryadan’s son Shoukath is the chairman of Nilambur Municipality while Chandy Oommen a former Delhi state general secretary of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) is an active trade union leader.
