DHARWAD: Farmers from Mundaragi have taken strong exception to the statement of Minister for Large and Medium Industries Murugesh Nirani that farmers agreed for land acquisition for the proposed Posco steel unit near Gadag in exchange for jobs and compensation.
Mundaragi Taluka Abhivruddhi Horata Vedike president YN Goudar told reporters here on Saturday that Niran's statement is totally baseless. He categorically denied that no farmer in the region has agreed for acquisition of their land as claimed by Nirani.

"Nobody from the government or Nirani has contacted the farmers to discuss the issue till date," he said.
