Farmer leader Manvir Teotia, who led peasants' agitation in Uttar Pradesh's Bhatta Parsaul two years ago, was released from jail on Wednesday after 23 months of judicial custody in Dasna jail in Ghaziabad.
The leader was released after certain cases, registered against him, were either withdrawn by the government or bail was granted to him by the court.
Talking to this correspondent Nutan Teotia, the wife of the farmer leader who contested the cases and said: "The Mayawati government registered 22 criminal cases against the leader of heinous nature within a year for Bhatta Parsaul farmers agitation."
"Cases were also registered after Tappal agitation but in most cases the court granted him bail and some cases were withdrawn," she said.
