MOOLAMATTAM: Electricity production from the Moolamattam power house began on Tuesday after the power station was temporarily shut down owing to the blast and fire in the control panel of the fifth generator on Monday.Generation wing chief engineer Muhammadali Rawther said the first and the second generators started functioning on Tuesday night and the fourth and the sixth would start functioning by Wednesday morning. The third generator is under maintenance. Rawther told reporters at Moolamattam that the blast occurred owing to some error in the control panel of the fifth generator. On Monday afternoon, some snags were reported in the 220 KV connection line which were rectified by evening. The accident occurred when the synchronisation of the generator and the line was being done. The error in the synchronisation is speculated as the reason behind the blast. A team of KSEB engineers visited the accident site and conducted an inquiry on Tuesday.Meanwhile, Marine Isaac and K S Prabha, who were seriously injured, are still under treatment at the Ernakulam Medical Centre. According to sources, the condition of both is serious. Electricity Minister Aryadan Mohammad visited the injured at the hospital.
