Ecuadorean held with drugs at airport

NEDUMBASSERY: Drugs suspected to be cocaine were seized from an Ecuador citizen Solano Raize Jimmy Wincent who was trying to board Jet Airways flight to Chennai from Kochi international airport here on Thursday.Solano has been taken into custody.According to the airport officials, the presence of drug was detected when his baggage was screened. The Customs personnel recovered 16 packets of drug from him. The content was a liquid in yellow colour. The preliminary inspection revealed that it may be cocaine. There was also a doubt that the liquid could be snake poison. However, it will be confirmed only after a detailed a test.On grilling, Solano told the Customs personnel that he was asked by Odiyase, an African, to carry the baggage to Chennai for which Solano would be compensated.Further probe revealed that Odiyase who also had taken boarding pass to travel in the same flight did not enter the aircraft.The CCTV footage showed him leaving the terminal without taking his baggage from the terminal. However on the alert of the Customs, Odiyase was nabbed from Chennai railway station.
