BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda took senior officials to task at a review meeting held for secretaries and other top officials for poor performance in implementation of various developmental schemes, including that of relief work in drought-ridden districts. The achievement in the plan outlay for 2011-12 accounts for only about 50 to 60 per cent so far and it should be scaled up to 90 to 95 per cent before March end, he said.  Expressing concern that several developmental programmes, including that of rural development, housing, irrigation and repair of road networks, presents a poor picture, the CM exhorted the bureaucrats to pull up their socks and get back with better performance cards in the next two months.“The state government has released Rs 1,500 crore towards rural development. However, only about Rs 250 crore has been spent so far,” Gowda said.Asserting that he will not tolerate anymore complacency, Gowda  asked the officials to accord top priority for drought relief work, repairs, upgradation and filling of potholes and step up several social security schemes. The achievement in the area of disbursement of pensions for the aged, widows and physically challenged persons, Sandhya Suraksha and distribution of Bhagyalakshmi scheme is far from satisfactory, he rued. The Chief Minister instructed the officials to tour extensively, hold review meetings and become more aware of the adverse media reports on the poor delivery of public services.
