Srinagar: A gun battle is underway between security forces and terrorists in Drugmulla village at Kandi area of Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir since 11 am on Sunday and at least two terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area, army officials said.
The counter operation is led by a joint team of the armed forces, CRPF and J&K police after it came to light that the terrorists belong to the Lashkar-e-Toiba, officials added.
There are no reports of casualties although the militants are said to be heavily armed and the battle to neutralise these terrorists is in progress.
Earlier, Border Security Force (BSF) retaliated a fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers on the International Border (IB) in Jammu district's R.S. Pura sector on Saturday night.
"It was fire of small arms as well as mortar shells in small quantity but not effective. BSF retaliated appropriately," BSF spokesperson Subhendu Bhardwaj told IANS.
