In a one of its kind Onam celebrations, everyone from officers from the Motor Vehicles Department to the
commuters to the cleaning staff involved with the Vyttila Mobility Hub came together for a grand celebration at the hub. The event was jointly organised by the City Police, Vyttila Mobility Hub Society and Motor Vehicles Department.
Keeping with the spirit of public transportation, the Onam too came out with novel competitions including Best Bus Decoration and Best Bus Service amoung the traditional competitions like Onam Flower carpet competitions.
The participants included commuters, Kudumbasree members, auto/ taxi employees, employees of various government departments, KSRTC employees, security staff at the hub, the cleaning staff and other persons
linked with the hub. As part of the celebrations Onam delicacies like ‘adapradhaman’ and ‘upperi’ were distributed to all
the commuters at the hub on Tuesday. A ‘Maveli’ also visited the hub to add to the colour of the celebrations.
Many Onam-related competitions were held. The winners will be presented with prizes on Sept 4 by mobility hub director M Beena. The bus decoration competition was won by buses Sreenandanam, Jojo and Vijay. The flower
carpeting competition was won by prepaid stand autorickshaw workers, Rohini housekeeping group and Kudumbasree unit. The best bus was selected through a survey among the commuters. The bus ‘Mini Kutty’ plying through the Eroor-Elamakkara- Puthukalavattam route won the prize for the best bus.
