'Don't Lose Heart...': PM Modi Says Congress Already Accepted Defeat In LS Polls, Takes Jibe At Rahul-Vijayan Tiff
PM Modi said Congress has already accepted defeat following Phase 1 of Lok Sabha polls and said INDIA bloc partners are busy warning against each other.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that rival Congress already accepted defeat following the end of the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls and INDIA bloc partners are busy fighting one another. He also advised rival parties to work hard for democracy even though they may lose the elections.

“To all the workers and leaders of other parties, even if you feel that you are going to lose the elections and why should you work hard- I want to say work hard for democracy,” PM Modi said while addressing a rally in Maharashtra’s Nanded.

He said the following the first-phase of elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did a booth level analysis and found that people have voted en masse for the party.

“Yesterday, the first phase of polling concluded. After the polling concluded, the analysis that was done on the booth level and the information that was received confirms that in the first phase, there has been one-sided voting for NDA,” PM Modi said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also attended the rally along with PM Modi in Nanded. Elections to 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra will be held in five phases. In 2019, BJP won 23 out of the 25 seats it contested with undivided Shiv Sena.

The Prime Minister also took potshots at the Congress and said that the party has already accepted defeat. He said some Congress leaders are using the ‘Rajya Sabha route’ to remain in power.

“The truth is that Congress leaders have already accepted defeat even before the announcement of elections. This is the very reason that a few of their leaders, who used to contest and win Lok Sabha seats, have this time entered through the Rajya Sabha route,” he said.

He also highlighted to the public gathered at the rally of the cracks within the INDIA bloc. He referred to the jibes exchanged between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan earlier this week.

“The alliance partners are insulting one another. Kerala CM said such things about Shehzada that even I could never say. He said this to his partner. This is their condition,” PM Modi said, referring to Rahul Gandhi as ‘shehzada’, a Persian-Urdu word which means a ‘prince’.

Addressing a massive election rally in Kozhikode on Friday, Vijayan said, “Rahul Gandhi…you have an old name. There should not be a situation wherein you have still not moved from that situation.”

Vijayan was apparently referring to Marxist veteran and former Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan’s remarks a decade ago against Gandhi calling him an “Amul Baby”.

PM Modi said that by June 4 the INDIA bloc partners will ‘tear each other’s hair out’. He also said that Rahul Gandhi will have to ‘run away from Wayanad’ the same way he ran away from Amethi.

“The crisis is visible for Congress’ Shehzada in Wayanad. Shehzada and his gang are waiting for April 26 when voting in Wayanad will be concluded. After the voting concludes in Wayanad, they will again announce a safe seat for him as their alliance partners are hurling abuse at each other. The way he ran away from Amethi, he will again run away from Wayanad,” PM Modi said.
