DMK leader Samy held for murder

CHENNAI: Former DMK Minister for Fisheries, KPP Samy, 48, was arrested on Saturday at his home in Thiruvottiyur, in connection with the murder of a fisherman in 2006. The murder charge, relates to Thiruvottiyur Chelladurai, a fisherman from KVK Kuppam, who was reported missing in 2006. According to the police, the fisherman’s hamlet had received funds for post-tsunami rehabilitation in 2005-06. When the funds allegedly did not reach the people of the hamlet, Chelladurai had questioned Samy. Later that year, Chelladurai went missing and his wife then filed a police complaint.
