A lot was written about Nikitha being offered to play the character of Silk Smitha in the Kannada version.

New Delhi: Veena Malik is currently riding high being the new Silk Smitha down South with her debut in Kannada film, titled Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga. As for speculations, a couple of actresses who believed it would be a dream role were approached to reprise the role of Silk. In fact, a lot was written about Nikitha Thukral being offered to play the character of the yesteryear sex siren.

Now, what could be the reason for Nikitha or Pooja Gandhi to opt out of this film?

"I was approached for this movie. But I did not consider it seriously. In my opinion, The Bollywood version of The Dirty Picture was a beautifully made film. Remake of some films may not really click. Let's leave it at that," tells Pooja.

According to Nikitha, there's nothing about Silk Smitha in the Kannada version of Dirty Picture. "They are using the title of the movie and the name Silk but the story just essays a role of a prostitute in the film. It does not justify to the late Silk Smitha," reveals the actress, adding, "If I do this film, I'll be cheating my Kannada audience. I'm happy that I'm not a part of the project. People will have high expectations about me. My fans should not shower me with chappals after watching the movie. I would not liked to be misjudged."

"We are not remaking the Bollywood version of Dirty Picture. We don't want to have any relation with that film. Secondly, we did speak to Nikitha Thukral and narrated the story to her. But she had some conditions with respect to the script and costumes. She wanted us to remove the word Silk, which my film is all about. Why should we pay five times more to Veena Malik, if Nikitha had agreed to do the film? I don't want to compromise on my script. We are now in talks with Nasseruddin Shah through his coordinator. I hope to get him down for this movie. But let me clarify, if he's a part of the film, he will not don the same role," said Trishul, director of Dirty Picture: Silk Sakkath Maga.
