Directive to government on death by kite thread

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the government to consider within four weeks the claim of compensation from S Syed Sheik Mohamed for the death of his four-year-old daughter due to manja thread.“Since the matter claiming compensation is pending before the Home Secretary, who is the competent authority, without expressing anything on merits, the secretary is directed to consider the representation dated May 11 this year of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law,” Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar said on August 22 last. Mohamed had made a representation to the Home Secretary seeking compensation. As there was no reply, he moved the HC with the present writ petition.
