BELLARY: Though the incident of blasting of Suggalamma temple in the border area adjoining Andhra Pradesh happened five years back, the date on which the case was registered coincides with the date of Reddy’s arrest, which is September 5.The temple, situated between mining leases of BIOP and OMC-1, mining companies, was allegedly blasted by the Reddy duo on September 3, 2006 and a case was filed in this regard immediately.God fearing the brothers, who used to meet tantriks in Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, they did not spare even a temple which came in their way. Sources said that G Janardhana Reddy earned the curse of Goddess Suggalamma, by blasting the temple, which resulted in his arrest.Obalapuram Mining Company (OMC) which was the reason for the Reddy clan’s prosperity, turned to be a curse for them. Started in the year 2001, by G Janardhana Reddy with his close associate and friend Sreenivas Reddy, the OMC was alleged to have encroached other mining leases, to the larger extent. Out of six mining leases in the border area concerning Andhra Pradesh, four belonged to Reddy’s Sriramulu and Sreenivas Reddy, while two belonged to BIOP and Mahabaleshwarappa Mining company.Since former Andhra CM late Y S Rajashekhar Reddy was in favour of G Janardhana Reddy, the government failed to conduct the enquiry and after his demise, Rosaiah government ordered for CBI enquiry into allegations by TDP. The Reddy’s then succeeded in bringing a stay for the CBI enquiry, against which the Andhra government requested the Andhra HC. On hearing the request the Andhra HC made way for CBI enquiry.
