BANGALORE: "Come, plant a tree", Deputy Mayor S Harish urged on his visit to the Spoorthivana in Tippagondanahalli on Sunday. Officials from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike visited this environment friendly project at the T G Halli reservoir catchment area to promote activities related to environment conservation.
The Deputy Mayor, invited members from the media to visit Spoorthivana , which is a combined initiative of the Government of Karnataka, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Forest Department and Parisara Trust. "The purpose of our visit was to encourage people to come and plant a tree in Spoorthivana," said the Deputy Mayor. He also added that he hoped that the environmentalists in the city appreciate such initiatives by the Corporation.After being subject to criticism because of the Sankey Road widening project, he said that the Corporation had planted close to 5000 trees and has always been involved in activities that promote the conservation of the environment.
