New Delhi: Starting from real estate business to weddings the Narendra Modi-led NDA government's demonetisation drive has cast its shadow on almost everything in the country.
While Opposition parties including SP, BSP, Congress and Trinamool Congress attack the government's sudden decision to abolish Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes as it will cause problems to common man, BJP chief Amit Shah terms it a move which will immensely help in tackling corruption.

- BJP: Party president Amit Shah says scheme will greatly benefit the economy, questions opposition motives
- JD (U): Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has "welcomed and supported" the decision
- BJD: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik has lauded the move calling it a 'bold step'
- TRS: Telangana CM KCR reportedly said that demonetisation is “a great thing” but is concerned about its impact on state’s revenue
- DMK: Party treasurer M K Stalin has welcomed the announcement but urged the central government to take immediate measures to offer relief to common man
- NCP: Party President Sharad Pawar said that the move will curb Black money and terror financing
- TDP: CM Chandrababu Naidu wrote to the PM last month demanding demonetisation of the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes
AGAINST
- TMC: WB CM Mamata Banerjee calls scheme a ‘big black scandal’. Has sought Opposition including her arch-rival CPM’s help in opposing the move
- AAP: Delhi CM Kejriwal has demanded a roll back of the scheme alleging that PM’s friends knew of scheme in advance
- BSP: Party chief Mayawati has accused PM of indulging in “emotional blackmail” and termed the decision “immature” and “hurried”
- SP: While party supremo Mulayam Singh sought temporary roll-back of move, CM Akhilesh Yadav called it an ill-planned and badly executed move
- SHIV SENA: Party chief Uddhav Thackeray has said that “initiative taken by the government is not in public interest, because only normal people are suffering from this hasty decision"
QUESTIONS GOVT’S METHOD AND SINCERITY
- CONGRESS: Not against the scheme but have sought to pick holes saying it is “puzzled’ about govt’s decision to introduce Rs 2000 denomination notes
- RJD: Party boss Lalu Yadav has doubted PM Modi’s sincerity in fighting black money and uprooting corruption from the country
- SAD: Has supported the move but feels the scheme “needs to be implemented better"
