Delhi: Second car free day to be held in Dwarka
In October, Car Free Day had been held between Red Fort and India Gate which received a good response from the people of the capital.

New Delhi: With an aim to encourage people to use public transport, Delhi government has decided to oraganise second Car Free Day in Dwarka on November 22 which will witness cycle rally, human chain and participations by IAS and DANICS officers.

Briefing about the next Car-Free Day, Transport Minister Gopal Rai said the event will be held on Road No 202 in Dwarka between Sector 3-13 to Sector 7-9. The duration of car free day will be 8 AM to 4 PM.

The Minister said that the main participant in the cycle rally will be IAS, IPS, DANICS, DANIPS association officers and others. Cycle Rally will be started from Dwarka Sports Complex and total distance of Cycle Rally will be about 6 km. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal may also participate in the rally. To ensure participation of people, human chain will be formed along the Car Free Day route.

"The citizens of Delhi are facing very high levels of pollution in the city. It is the prime duty of the government to reduce pollution and traffic congestion in the national capital."

"Use of public transport is an important alternative for reducing the use of private vehicles thereby reducing the congestion and air pollution," Rai said.

He also said that extra buses with increased frequency will be deployed on this route for public convenience. Except cars, all public transport will be allowed on this stretch.
