In the wake of the spiralling cases of dengue in the national capital, Delhi government on Wednesday issued a circular to all schools in the city suggesting do's and don'ts for prevention of the disease including wearing of full-sleeve tops and trousers and salwars.

In the wake of the spiralling cases of dengue in the national capital, Delhi government on Wednesday issued a circular to all schools in the city suggesting do's and don'ts for prevention of the disease including wearing of full-sleeve tops and trousers and salwars.

As per the guidelines mentioned in the circular, students should be instructed to wear full sleeve clothes and long trousers or salwars to cover hands and legs properly.

They can also apply mosquito repellent on exposed parts of the body.

According to the circular, nails should be trimmed short once every week and hands washed with soap before consuming food.

All water coolers of schools must be cleaned properly every week and servicing of water filters to be installed in schools.

The circular directs checking of the expiry date of all packaged eatables and drinks before eating and also refraining from consuming water, milkshake and fruit juice, chat from roadside vendors.

The circular directs elimination of stagnant water in pits and flower pots in schools to control mosquito breeding, cleaning of water drainage, cleaning and covering of water tanks with properly-fitted lids, repairing leaked and damanged water pipelines along with regular cleaning of septic tanks and toilet blocks.

As per the circular, the Deputy Director of Education should ensure the compliance of these measures during the inspection of schools.
