Delhi elections: Why was Kiran Bedi 'removed' from key positions, asks Congress
AICC also alleged that BJP was spending as much as Rs 1500 crore to gain power in Delhi while AAP is not far behind with "hundreds of crore".

New Delhi: Congress on Tuesday sought to put BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi in the dock demanding to know the reasons why then IPS officer was "removed" from key positions in Mizoram, Chandigarh and Goa.

AICC also alleged that BJP was spending as much as Rs 1500 crore to gain power in Delhi while AAP is not far behind with "hundreds of crore". Targeting Bedi, senior party spokesman Anand Sharma wanted to know as to why the Delhi High Court had sometime back ordered filing of an FIR against her for alleged misuse of office as IG (Prisons) which was closed when BJP came to power at the Centre.

Sharma also alleged that the Navjyothi foundation, an NGO associated with Bedi, was getting funds from abroad and she should 'thoroughly reveal" the donations. He also charged Bedi with buying discounted air tickets but taking full fare from her hosts.

He claimed this happened on a number of occasions. Making light of the election promises made by AAP, Sharma said that the Delhi government would need 25 per cent more funds than that available in the entire Union Budget to fulfill the assurances.

Taking a dig at both Arvind Kejriwal, who is the AAP's CM candidate and Bedi, he alleged it was a matter of irony that the two disciples of Anna Hazare were making full use of "black money" to contest the election. Asked about RSS mouthpiece Organiser's praise of Bedi, Sharma said that the Sangh will realise after the election whether there was any need to carry this "baggage' into the polls.
