BANGALORE: A couple, who were on their way to city to cast their votes in the Banashankari Temple Ward byelection, died in an accident between a private bus and a mini van near Salem.Syed Kamal Basha (55) and his wife Dilshan Begum (48), residents of Ummarbag Layout in Banashankari, are the couple whose right to vote was snatched by death. Basha was running a petty shop near his residence.According to policemen deployed for bundobust duty of the election, the couple had gone to Dharmapuri to visit their daughter Afsar Begum. They were keen to cast their votes in the election and accordingly boarded a private bus on Saturday night so that they would reach the city by Sunday morning.However, the fate had something else in store for them as the bus they were travelling collided with a mini van.The couple were killed along with seven others. Their bodies were brought to the city after postmortem was conducted at a hospital in Salem.
