Manjit Singh Sethi and his son Vicky were sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in a kidnapping and assault case.

New Delhi: The President of the Dance Bar Owners Association Manjit Singh Sethi and his son Vicky were sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by a local Mumbai court on Tuesday.

The two, who were ordered by the court to pay a fine of Rs 1.25 lakh each, have been found guilty of kidnapping and assault.

Singh and his son were found guilty of kidnapping court clerk Kuldeep Singh Chandok on January 6, 1997 and taking him to a warehouse in neighbouring Thane where they assaulted him and took Rs 50,000 in cash and stamp papers pertaining to a property in his possession.

Chandok was released near Andheri the next day and he filed a complaint against Sethi.

Sethi and his son were arrested in February 1997 after their pleas for anticipatory bail were rejected by the sessions court and the Bombay High Court.
