PUNALUR: The shooting of a Malayalam movie at Sundarapandiapuram in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu was disrupted on Saturday following the protest by a group over the Mullaperiyar issue. The crew of the movie ‘No.66 Madurai Bus’ directed by M A Nishad was threatened by a group of over 40 persons and was asked to return to Kerala. M A Nishad told ‘Express’ over phone that the group reached the shooting location around 10 a.m. and asked the crew to leave the state within an hour.Nishad said that they were shooting in the area for the past three days and had been camping at Thenkasi. “The residents of the area were very friendly to us, while the protestors seemed a politically motivated group. We informed the police but they reached the spot only to tell us that we should leave immediately to avoid a conflict,” he said. The team returned to Punalur by afternoon.K V Anil, who scripted the movie, said that actor Padampriya, Bollywood actor Makrand Deshpande and Telugu actor Jayalalitha were among the 120-member crew. The hero of the movie actor Pasupathy too was scheduled to reach the location.When contacted, the office of the deputy Superintendent of Police, Thenkasi, confirmed the incident and said that the issue had been settled and the crew was requested to return to avoid further trouble.
