Cyclone Remal: Landfall Expected At Midnight, PM Modi Chairs Review Meeting | Top Points
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday conducted a meeting to review the response and preparedness for Cyclone Remal

Cyclone Remal has made landfall on Bangladesh coastlines and is hurtling towards West Bengal. The cyclonic storm is expected to make a landfall in West Bengal around midnight on Sunday with a wind speed of 110-120 km per hour, gusting to 135 kmph.

Cyclonic storm Remal over the North Bay of Bengal moved nearly northwards, with a speed of 13 kmph during the past 6 hours about 125 km east-southeast of West Bengal’s Sagar Islands, 135 km southwest of Khepupara in Bangladesh, 130 km south-southeast of Canning in West Bengal and 150 km south-southwest of Mongla in Bangladesh, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a statement.

The Met Office has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of West Bengal and north Odisha on May 26-27.
