New Delhi: The Commomwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) replaced Sanjeev Mittal, in-charge of the ticketing function in the OC, with his junior, Monica Jolly following the Commonwealth Games ticket sales mess and simultaneously shifted the ticketing operations out of the OC headquarters to Ashok Hotel.
But what has been a big cause of concern for the Government is the controversy surrounding ticket sales.
Commonwealth Games Federation chief, Michael Fennell, has ordered an inquiry into the entire issue. The probe report is expected on Sunday. Earlier, there were reports of tickets and passes being sold in the black market.
Two people, including a woman, were arrested in the capital Saturday on charges of illegally selling Games tickets.
Earlier CNN-IBN visited certain venues and ticketing counters to do a status check and found that stands have mostly been empty for all major events. Interestingly, no tickets were available to buy from the ticket counters.
There are three ways of buying tickets online, from the Games venues and from some ticketing outlets. But the big question is if all the tickets are sold, then where are the spectators? It's a question that's been raised often over the last few days, but no one seems to have an answer.
