Chennai: The CPI's Tamil Nadu unit on Saturday came out in defence of actress Kushboo. She had been in the centre of a controversy following her remarks on pre-marital sex.
The party accused the media of blowing the issue out of proportion for political and commercial reasons.
Condemning the recent incident at Mettur?where chappals were thrown at the car of the actress while she was leaving the magistrate court ? CPI members asked the protesting groups not to resort to undemocratic means to air their grievances.
Members of the CPI said the actress was free to express her views on any issue, as it was her fundamental right to do so.
If there were opposing views to what the actress had stated, then it should be done in the form of rejoinders.
