KOCHI: An all party delegation led by Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany on Tuesday met Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Finance Minister K M Mani to convey the Corporation's concern over nonallocation of funds for various development projects in the state budget.The civic representatives also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister."We have listed major projects that are not included in this year's budget. A majority of the projects requires the financial backing of the state government," Mayor Tony Chammany told Express. He said the Chief Minister had promised that the government would take steps to address Kochi's concerns. The Mayor said that the projects and fund allocations that were excluded from the budget include the Water Metro, an amount of Rs 48 crore for land acquisition of the Atlantis railway overbridge (RoB) and Rs 15 crore for the Fort Kochi-Mattanchery Heritage Zone."The Rs 158 crore earmarked in the 2010-11 budget for the proposed Metro Rail project was not carried over in this year's budget. This was also mentioned in the memorandum," the Mayor added.Apart from the Mayor, the members of the delegation included Kochi Corporation Opposition leader K J Jacob, CPI councillor C A Shakeer, BJP councillor Syamala S Prabhu and Education Standing Committee chairman R Thyagarajan.
