New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have solved over 50 cases of robbery with the arrest of three men who would loot their victims of all their belongings and leave them naked.
Police recovered two illegally-made pistols, bullets and four mobile phones from the robbers.
"The accused Rajesh, Mukesh and Vasu were arrested from Rajouri Garden Saturday on the basis of a tip-off. They used to commit the robberies at night at gunpoint in different areas of northwest and west Delhi," said a police officer.
"On interrogation, the accused disclosed that they are all from Jahangir Puri and came from poor economic backgrounds. One of the accused, Mukesh, is an aspiring model but his economic background was a hurdle," he said.
According to police, the gang would target people on the roads at night. They would attack their victims and rob them off of all their belongings including clothes.
"After robbing the person, they would take victim's clothes, leaving him naked so that the victim couldn't follow them or inform the police (immediately). If any of their targets would resist, they would attack them. On interrogation, they disclosed their involvement in more than 50 such robberies," the police said.
