To revive enthusiasm of party workers and leaders, Rajasthan Congress will start a membership campaign on August 20, the birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
The campaign will be launched on August 20 at the district-level first, then it will go to village and tehsil levels later in the year, Pradesh Congress Committee President Sachin Pilot said while addressing a party rally on Thursday.
People from every society, caste, creed and religion will be approached to become Congress party's primary members, Pilot said, adding that those having a clean image with no criminal background and believing in Congress ideology can become a member.
"This is a very tough period and challenging too for the party when it is playing role of opposition at the Centre and in the state," he said that the party was very positive about performing its role as an Opposition both in Parliament and the state
Assembly.
Attacking the BJP government in Rajasthan, he alleged that the previous Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government's decision and plans on oil refinery in Barmer district, metro rail in Jaipur and free medicines to everyone were being stopped in the name of review.
He further alleged that BPL families were earlier getting wheat at Re 1 per kg, but the rate was being raised to Rs 2 per kg now and that too under the PPP mode, he alleged.
Claiming that employees of roadways, education and medical sectors were facing problems, Pilot said every section of the society was up in the arms against the Raje government.
"BJP government appears to be highly insensitive," he said.
"Law and order situation is deteriorating every day in the state with a rise in crimes," he said.
The Raje government planned to go for delimitation of wards and panchayat for political mileage in view of upcoming civic and panchayat elections in the state, he alleged.
Other senior leaders who addressed the rally included Mirza Irshad, B D Kalla, Chandrbhan,Pramod Jain Bhaya and Pratap Singh Khachariyawas.
