BANGALORE: The Congress has stepped up its tirade against the BJP and staged a day-long sit-on-dharna on the pedestal of the Kengal Hanumanthaiah statue located on the premises of the Vidhana Soudha on Thursday. More than 60 legislators and party leaders, including Leaders of Opposition in the Assembly and Council, Siddaramaiah and Motamma, KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar and others participated in the programme. Siddaramaiah said that the Congress will continue its protest till the tainted legislators get expelled fully from the Assembly. Rejecting the Speaker’s decision to order an inquiry into the incident in which ministers were caught watching obscene videos inside the Assembly hall, he asserted that only expulsion can restore the lost dignity of the house. He also reiterated his party’s decision not to join the Inquiry Committee set up by the Speaker K G Bopaiah. “When the truth has been established by acceptance of guilt by the accused where is the need for an inquiry?” he demanded. The Opposition leader also ridiculed Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda’s offer for a debate on the issue.
