BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has assured students from Odisha in London that he would take up the problems, faced by them in getting visa, with the Indian High Commissioner to the UK. Members of the Odia Students’ Association (OSA), who met the Chief Minister in London, raised problems relating to visa and scholarship with him. A release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office here said Naveen was felicitated by the Odia Samaj, London. Addressing the function, the Chief Minister lauded the members for propagating culture, tradition and heritage of Odisha there. Focusing on the development programmes, implemented by the State Government, Naveen elaborated on the measures taken for uplift of women and tribals in Odisha. There has been improvement in literacy rate and health scenario in the State, he said. Addressing the meeting, president of the Odia Samaj Kalpana Mishra proposed establishment of a Jagannath Temple and opening of an NRI cell in London. Naveen felicitated Mishra and Braja Nayak of the samaj at the meeting. Minister for Textile and Handloom Usha Devi and Minister of State for Information Technology Ramesh Majhi were present.
