THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOCHI: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday demanded that Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Harin Raval be prevented from further appearance in the Enrica Lexie case. This is in view of Raval’s submission in the Supreme Court on Friday against the proclaimed stance of the state and Central governments in the case. Raval had stated that the Kerala Police had no right to file a case and the firing from the vessel occurred in international waters. The Chief Minister faxed the request to Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid. He sought to entrust the conduct of  the case with the Attorney General. He also demanded that a probe should be conducted to find out in which context the ASG had went against the clear stance of  the state and Central governments.“I have already talked to the Attorney General. He has promised  to take up the issue with the Law Ministry and take action at the earliest,” Chandy told reporters in Kochi.Stressing that it was the personal opinion of the ASG and not of the Centre, he said the Centre had always supported the state govt’s stand when the case came up for hearing before the Kerala High Court. Moreover, he said the state government had always sought the advice of the Centre in the case.Chandy’s attempt was part of an initiative to cool down the rising public opinion against the reversal of the government stand  in the court in the case.
