Jaipur: The Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir on Friday said that work to dispense speedy and fair justice to common man through the 'Gram Nyayalaya' (rural court) is in the process of being implemented. Justice Kabir, who was in Sirohi district to inaugurate a 'Gram Nyayalaya' building, told reporters in Jaipur that "these courts are created to mitigate legal problems of poor who found it difficult to travel to district courts".
Besides, arrangements are also made to provide free legal consultations and knowledge to the villagers, he said. The CJI directed the village courts officials to make the legal process simple, speedy and cheap for the residents in these villages. The Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Amitabha Roy, who was also present on the occasion, said the village courts are launched for early disposal of cases in the rural areas of the country.
He also directed the concerned officials to ensure that the cases related to domestic violences should be effectively resolved. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Ajay Rastogi were among several High Court and district administration officials present on the occasion.
