BERHAMPUR: Chikungunya continues to spread to various villages in Dharakote block. First detected in Gadadamodarpalli about 10 days back, it has affected around 200 villagers. Besides, another 30 of Talapatana village have been diagnosed with the disease.According to Dharakote hospital sources, while 40 affected persons have been discharged, about 195 patients are still undergoing treatment.Doctors of Dharakote hospital also visited Talapatana village and distributed medicines.Meanwhile, the block administration has roped in folk artistes to spread awareness about chikungunya.Members of Parliament Renubala Pradhan and Nityananda Pradhan visited the villages and met the inpatients at the hospital. They directed RWSS officials to initiate measures to disinfect the water bodies and water supply sources.Seragada MLA Ramesh Jena visited Gadadamodarpalli on Sunday and distributed fruits among the patients.He also announced that around 200 Congress activists would be engaged in sanitation work in the village.
