CHENNAI: If a police team visits your neighbourhood seeking information on people from other states living there, do not be surprised. City police is just planning an enumeration of sorts aimed at collecting details of people from other States, particularly bachelors.As of now, police are visiting the settlements of migrant labourers, whose photographs are also being collected for their records. Police say the information will be stored in a database.Soon, police will go out to gather information on people renting houses. They are now preparing a pamphlet to sensitise landlords and also house brokers on details that they should ask for when a prospective tenant approaches them.The information that the police want from people include father’s name, temporary address, name and contact number of local guardian or local in-charge and their permanent address with proof—such as a photocopy of ration card or driving licence. Apart from this, the police are also collecting details of the name and contact number of a relative in the native place of the concerned persons’, name of police station limit and number, identity card provided by employer here, whose contact details will also be recorded.
