Chemicals worth Rs 10L stolen; truck driver held

CHENNAI: A truck driver, who reportedly stole Rs 10 lakh worth of chemicals products, was arrested at Neyveli 48 hours after a complaint was lodged in this connection at Manali New Town on Sunday. On Friday, police received a plaint from the director of a container freight station stating that chemicals worth Rs 10 lakh that arrived by a ship from Germany were stolen by driver Saravana Kumar (25) of Thanjavur. He was supposed to transport the chemicals to a company at Mangalore. Though a special police team traced him to Putharayanallur, he gave the cops the slip and was later arrested at Neyveli.  The driver confessed that he planned to sell the goods.
