New Delhi: Sai Paranjpye's 1981 film 'Chashme Buddoor' is among those films which established rom-com as a sought after genre in the Hindi film industry. So, when David Dhawan announced that he is going to remake the cult-classic with new actors, it was seen as a risky decision. However, David Dhawan's record as a filmmaker is enviable and thus the audiences have certain expectations from the film. We list out the ten things that might make this remake worth our money.
The comedy of errors: Be it 'Swarg' or 'Aankhen' or any of the 'No.1' series films, David Dhawan is known for creating hilarious situations where characters are not sure about their own identities. 'Chashme Baddoor' also seems to be a mad-caper where confusion is going to rule the roost.
Divyendu Sharma: A lot is on stake for Divyendu in 'Chashme Baddoor' as his acting will be pitched against Rakesh Bedi's performance in the original. Further, this is his second film after 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' in which he was hugely liked, so he will be under pressure to touch a new height in this film. He is a trained actor so we can always expect him to come up with a scintillating performance.
Taapsee Pannu: She is the one who will be deeply scrutinised in 'Chashme Baddoor' as she is the pivotal female character among three boys. She is not expected to play Miss Chamko in 2013 and this fact makes life difficult for her because she will have to come up with her own interpretation of the character. She is a known face in the Southern film industries but Bollywood is a different arena so everything depends on her preparation for the film.
Siddharth: The viewers still remember him as the 'Rang De Basanti' boy who rebelled against his father but Siddharth has much more to offer. 'Striker' gave a hint of his latent potential and now 'Chashme Baddoor' is all set to bring out his funny side. He is a veteran actor who doesn't need to be taught about camera angles and David Dhawan is also known to focus on acting skills than technical gimmickry, so the actor may surprise us in a big way this time.
Ali Zafar: He talks a lot about philosophical thoughts when he doesn't play a character, so it will be interesting to see how Ali Zafar blends his internal thoughts with the ideas of the happy-go-lucky chap Sid. He singing skills are added benefits and he has even sung a song 'Dhinchkiyaaoon' in 'Chashme Baddoor'.
Sher-O-Shayari: The trailers of 'Chashme Baddoor' suggest that the spectators should be ready to handle a lot of 'shayaris'. Divyendu is playing an aspiring poet in the film whose timing is just not right.
Hare ek friend kamina hota hai: 'Chashme Baddoor' is promoted as a film where three close friends are pursuing same girl and they can go to any extent to make things difficult for the one closest to the finishing line. The contemporary age may prompt them to seek help from latest gadgets which were absent in the first edition.
Lallan Miyan: Saeed Jaffrey made the character of Lallan Miyan immortal by giving it his own twist in Sai Paranjpye's film but who is going to play Lallan Miyan this time? If the character is removed from the new film then who is pitched by the storyteller to replace Lallan Miyan?
Songs: The first instalment of 'Chashme Buddoor' had some fantastic songs and it is difficult for the new film to match up to those songs but the picturisation of the new songs may tilt the game in favour of David Dhawan's film.
